It is with sadness and heavy hearts we announce the death of Wilfred (“Wilfey”) Harold Burns, Margaree Harbour, on Monday, March 7th, 2022. Wilfred passed away peacefully in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.

Wilfred was born June 25th, 1937, to parents John D. and Mary Florence (Muise) Burns. He is survived by his dear friend, Claudia MacNeil, whom he loved so much; daughters, Nancy T. Devries and Maryanne Marsden; brothers, Freddie and Leo; his sister Teresa (Melvin) Waters; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Annie Jane, Stella, Rannie, Tommy, Martin, and Clarence.

Wilfred loved to work. He was a strong iron worker for 25 years. Wilfey was always ready to lend a hand, whether you needed a tool from his 60 year collection or your driveway plowed, he got the job done. He was a guy with a sweet tooth, had a twinkle in his eye, a song he could whistle, a step dance to a fiddle tune, which he loved.He was special to his community and was proud to call Margaree home.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, housekeepers, front desk workers, and all those who cared for him, he loved you all. There are too many favourites to list.
