Tonino Giallonardo passed away peacefully in his 90th year on Tuesday March 3, 2020 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. Tonino was born on March 20, 1930 to Mario and Domenica (née Salvati) in Villa Santa Lucia degli Abruzzi (AQ), Italy, the eldest of four children.

At 34 years of age, Tonino immigrated to Canada from Italy to join his family after serving in the Arma dei Carabinieri as a Vice Brigadiere. His passion for Italy never wavered as he remained strongly engaged in the Italian community here in Canada. Tonino is well known for his years of dedication as a founding member of the Associazione Nazionale Carabinieri (Sezione di Toronto) where he also served as President for over 30 years. Outside of this, he was an exemplary father, uncle, and grandfather and always proud of his family who were no strangers to his following.

Tonino is survived by his wife Joan (née Pinto) and former wife Maria (née Sartori); sons Tony, Jason (Luciana), and Rino (Angela); grandchildren Kody (Tonya), Mattia, Andrea (Alessia), Mia, Ilaria, Anna, Gianluca, Simona, and Chiara; brothers Giannino (Silvana), Americo (Maria) and sister Florida (Gaetano).
