Of Neyaashiinigmiing, passed suddenly at his home on Sunday, May 8, 2022. Russell Nikita Smith at the age of 33 years old lived a full life rooted in connections, music and a deep love for his son. He will be forever missed by his son Jonah Jordan Smith of Brampton. His Dear Parents Veronica “Cha-Cha” Smith (Len) of Neyaashiinigmiing and Richard Martin (Patricia) of Nipissing First Nation. Dear Brother to Robin Stadelbauer (Jon) of Kitchener, Chelsea Lapierre (Marc) of Edmonton and Ryan Martin of Devon. Sadly missed by his loving niece Orianna Stadelbauer and adoring nephew Jackson Stadelbauer. Also missed by his Aunties and Uncles Grace Martin, Jane Martin, John Martin, Howard Martin, Charlene Martin, Lorna Martin, Spring Martin, Germaine Elliott, and Ralph Bostic and their significant others. Predeceased by Grandparents Peter and Vera Martin, Eulah Elliott and Meryl Smith, and Aunties and Uncles Vivian Babcock, Victoria Bostic, Ray Martin, Jimmy Martin, Arthur “Butch” Elliott, Carleen Elliott and Arleta Elliott. Special family member to Orland Jones and family. Missed by several cousins, large extended families, many friends and community members. Russell was a proud Ironworker and belonged to Iron Workers Local 721 in Toronto. Russell had passion for music and DJing. He was a proud Anishinaabe Nini and belonged to the Otter clan.
