Ironworkers Local 721 was chartered on July 21, 1949. The Toronto Local was previously chartered as Local 4 on the 15th day of September 1902.
We currently represent over 4100 members, who over the last century have constantly transformed Toronto’s skyline. Some of our most prestigious erected buildings and projects in Ontario include the CN Tower, Rogers Center, BMO Field, Canada’s Wonderland, ROM, AGO and the Toronto Transit system. We additionally built and maintain several Hydro Electric Power Generation Plants, various hospitals, infrastructures, schools and all the major automobile manufacturing plants, just to name a few.
Local 721 dispatches to our signatory contractors skilled trades personnel with various skill sets. The membership is proficiently trained in various aspects of the Ironworkers trade such as, structural steel, ornamental iron, reinforcing rods, overhead door mechanics, architectural steel, residential Iron, riggers, welders, curtain wall installations, building envelopes, windows, pre-engineered structures, structural systems, windmills & turbines erections, machinery maintenance, machinery moving, and in-plant maintenance personnel, post tensing, etc.
We are a registered training delivery agent for lronworkers & Reinforcing Rodworkers apprenticeship programs. We also provide various Journeyperson upgrading courses.
