0-8 Ton Carrydeck (Broderson)
This course will provide the successful applicant with a Record of Training for familiarization, inspection, safe usage and rigging in conjunction with the operation of a 0-8ton rated capacity Carry Deck Crane.Duration: 2 consecutive days, Saturday and Sunday 8 hours + per day.Requirements: Apprentice applicants must have completed level 2 (intermediate) to register for this course.

Blueprint Reading Course
There are various blueprint reading courses offered at the training center duration varies for each please specify which course you are interested in taking when you submit your application from one of the following:

  • REINFORCING STRUCTURAL
  • BASIC STRUCTURAL
  • ADVANCED

Confined Space

First Aid / CPR
This course will give the successful applicant a valid emergency first aid certificate which will have a three year expiry.

Duration: 8 hours.
Requirements: None

(Standard) First Aid
This two day course will give the student the required accreditation for first aid that is necessary under WSIB regulation 1101 that is typically necessary for Health and Safety representatives on Jobsites. Recommended for Job Stewards. The course will take place on one weekend, Saturday and Sunday, 8 hours per day. Forktruck / Propane Handling / WHMIS Update
Applicants will have to provide a record of training for first time WHMIS in order to challenge the update for whmis. Successful applicants will be given a record of training card which has a three year expiry date. Note: WHMIS must be updated yearly.

Duration: 2 consecutive days, Saturday and Sundays, 8 hours per day.

Generic Health & Safety Level 1
This course will give the successful applicant a background on current health and safety legislation in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Duration: 2 days, 8 hours + per day.
Requirements: None

High Angle Rescue Level 1 & 2

Instrument Course
This course will give the successful applicant a comprehensive background in using optical instruments for plumbing, aligning and layout on contractors levels, transits, theodolites, digital theodolites and total stations.This course is not open to ironworker apprentices.

Welding
This course will allow the participant to practice in advance of C.W.B. testing for procedures using the following types of welding processes:

  • S.M.A.W.
  • F.C.A.W.
  • G.M.A.W
  • G.T.A.W
  • A.S.W. (Deck Welding)
  • Rebar Welding

Course deposit required – $85.00 (refundable). Participants will be afforded three chances at a successful challenge of the C.W.B. procedure they are attempting.

Open weld practices are Mondays from 12pm to 7:00pm & Wednesdays from 12pm to 7:00pm

Power Elevated Work Platforms

Rigging Safety Course
This course will give the successful applicant a comprehensive background in fibre-line and wire rope rigging and rigging accessories and applications.

Duration: 3 days, 8 hours + per day.
Requirements: This course is not open to Ironworker apprentices.

Swingstage (Suspended Access Equipment)

WAH (Working at Heights)
This course will give the successful applicant a generic certification for working at heights.

Duration: 6.5 hours.
Requirements: None
